Taking Note of Taking Notes - Part 3: Journler, Yojimbo, DEVONthink

I'm rushing this post out because school is starting soon. Just a reminder, I'm writing up some reviews on Mac note-taking applications, which will come in handy for taking notes during lectures. If you haven't read the three other reviews, please visit Taking Note of Taking Notes - Part 2

Journler ($19.95 Student License)

Journler is an interesting application. It seems more like a media organizer with iLife integration, but it does have some good note-taking ability.

Pros: Can add multiple file type (audio, video, photos)

Cons: No syncing, more about organizing files

Find more, go to http://journler.com.

Yojimbo by Bare Bones Software ($29 Educational)

Yojimbo is the big name in info organizers. It's created by Bare Bones Software, which created BBEdit and TextWrangler, both popular text-editing/coding software.

Pros: MobileMe Syncing, handy shelf

Cons: Does not have much control over preferences

For more information, visit Yojimbo's website.

DEVONthink ($49.95 US)

Pros: Has built in Artificial Intelligence (sounds fancy) that helps classify items, Good text editing, Good ways of viewing your

Cons: Expensive, More about file organization, No sync

To find out more, visit DEVONthink.

Conclusion

From these three applications, Yojimbo seems to be the best. So, it'll be between Yojimbo and Together. I'll be writing the conclusion and making the purchase tonight, so stay tuned.

Tomatoes!

The tomatoes are here!

My last post about my Grand Adventure in Growing showed a few photos of some tomato flowers, and a few tiny green tomatoes. But, since then, my tomatoes have grown. Here are a few photos of them.

The red cherry tomatoes that grow in bunches are sweet and delicious. The large yellow tomatoes are quite tart. The plum tomatoes are quite delicious too, but I won't have enough to make much of a sauce.

In the future, I should probably plant more tomato plants, but that would mean I require more space.

Blueberry Pie

Blueberry season has come in full swing, much to my enjoyment.

Yesterday, at the Covent Garden Farmer's Market, I bought a giant bag of delicious blueberries from Bluberry Hill Farm, which is located in Rodney. The bag had six cups of blueberries in it.

I probably could have finished the bag of blueberries on their own, but I decided to try to make blueberry pie. The recipe is from my housemate's Betty Crocker cookbook, so I won't post it here (copyright and all that fun stuff), but I will post photos.

Unfortunately, I did a poor job of sealing the pie so it was leaky. The flavour, however, turned out to be delicious. It would be perfect with a nice scoop of vanilla ice cream (as a good many desserts are).

A very special thanks goes to my friend Rhiannon who helped lift the pie out of the tin for me, which was difficult due to the leaky pie.
